Nathan's Hot Dog Eating ContestOn July 4th, 2012 at 12PM Eastern Time Nathan’s Hot Dogs will once again hold the grand daddy of all eating competitions. Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has been held continuously since 1916 with the exception of 1941 and 1971 due to war and civil unrest, respectively. This event is not only one of the oldest it is definitely the most famous with approximately 40,000 people attending and another 1.95 million viewing it on ESPN last year.

This year’s contestants will have earned their way to the championship via 13 qualifying tournaments around the country with each tournament awarding a place for the top male and female finisher(There is still time to watch one of the last few remaining qualifiers in Pittsburgh on the 13th of June, Charlotte on the 16th and Boston on the 23rd).

DATE AND TIME OF EATING COMPETITION:

12:00pm on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012.

THE EATING CONTEST:

Contestants will have 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs in buns as possible. The Record is held by Joey Chestnut with 68 hot dogs during that period.

Coney Island.
Brooklyn, NY

EATING COMPETITION COST:

Contestants qualified through previous Tournaments held around the country

PRIZE:

$40,000 Total Cash Purse
