Church Street Pizza 12 Pound Pizza Challenge

Church St. Pizza in Salem, OR unveiled a brand new eating challenge Memorial Day Weekend 2012. Acquiring a special 28″ pan for the occasion, the owner concocted a 12 lb pizza that divided the pie into four sections showcasing the four best-selling pizzas on the menu.

The owner gave me 90 minutes to tackle the challenge, which was covered in great detail by the local newspaper Statesman Journal. I completed all 12 lbs of pizza in about 74 minutes, and in so doing it was on the house. Should I have failed, the dare would have set me back $100. I’m still editing YouTube video for the challenge and I will send you raw videos so that you can feature some on your site. The challenge was drafted under typical rules, no bathroom breaks, no throwing up, and no assistance. I was allowed to drink whatever I wanted.

The newspaper story is no longer featured on the website unfortunately. Their Facebook is here: http://www.facebook.com/Churchstpizza

The restaurant is located at 324 Church St NE Salem, OR 97301. The challenge was created specifically as part of my “Oregon Mania” trip over Memorial Day weekend but it continues to today as a team challenge. As far as I know, no team has yet completed it.

There will be a second Oregon Mania trip happening this weekend, and Church St Pizza will kick off that challenge series this Friday with an 8 lb dessert pizza, again made from a 28″ pan, showcasing four different types of dessert pizzas. I will send photos this weekend.

In other news, All Pro Eating has designated me their #1 world ranked eating challenger. A press release goes live Thursday but I already have a page on their site: http://competitiveeaters.com/challenger.html
