Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Challenge

Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin wingsBuffalo Wild Wings is a national chain restaurant, but their eating challenge is definitely not vanilla. You have to eat 12 of their “Blazin’ Wings” in 6 minutes to beat the Blazin’ Challenge, which has claimed many victims over the years. It’s a heat challenge rather than a volume challenge, as most casual diners should be able to handle a dozen chicken wings without much struggle.

The challenge’s difficulty comes from the no-water and no-napkin rules in effect. Estimates vary, but I’ve read that the “Blazin'” sauce used by BWW clocks in somewhere around 250,000-300,000 scoville units. It’s got a strong habanero kick.

Critics may mock this one as an “entry level” heat challenge. Obviously, much stronger sauces and heat challenges exist. This is still a good one. I defeated it alongside Matt “Sweet Tooth” Cohen a few months ago, and I’d do it again.

Prizes vary according to location. Your prize could be a picture on the wall, glory, free t-shirt, free headband, all of the above, or none of the above. Check with the server before ordering. It will set you back about $10.

Buffalo Wild Wings Locations:
A map of Buffalo Wild Wings shows them to be in most if not all 50 states. I Didn’t see one in Wyoming, but that may be it.

250,000-300,000 Scovilles. I did a rough estimate of 250,000 and used it on my Facebook post. Here in Ontario Canada it was 10 wings in 5 minutes and I won a T-shirt. I’ve tried them twice before. Once I had boneless, once I had regular. Today was a special day so we went there. I got all psyched up. She started the clock. I went to take a drink. Nope. Not allowed. OK on with the show. I was afraid for a moment I was running out of time but still apparently had 75 seconds to spare when I was done. DELICIOUS wings, these Blazin’ ones. The difficulty? The wings were HOT! I mean, right out of the oven type of hot. Burned my fingers. But I did it. Proved it to myself and I don’t have to do it again. I mean, if I order Blazin’ wings again I’ll go at a slower pace and ENJOY them.
